COLLEEN FLYNN GOSS

COLLEEN Flynn Goss is a partner at Fay Sharpe LLP, a preeminent boutique intellectual property firm in Cleveland. As an established and experienced trademark attorney, she oversees the trademark portfolios of domestic and international clients, from small entrepreneurs to multinational corporations.

Goss’s practice encompasses advising clients on the selection, clearance and adoption of new trademarks, prosecution of applications, registration, maintenance and enforcement of trademarks and domain names, as well as providing counsel on transactional matters and disputes related to trade secrets, false advertising and trademarks. She particularly enjoys working with start-ups and entrepreneurs in establishing their brands and realizing their goals.

The keystone of Goss’s practice is managing the worldwide trademark assets of a major healthcare provider. Her other varied clients include universities, consumer product and industrial manufacturing companies, and medical device manufacturers. She has also gained extensive international exposure through representation of trademark applicants based outside the United States.

Goss is an actively involved member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and currently serves as chair of the organization’s Publication Committee, which produces and maintains most of the INTA member legal resources. She is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion in the World Trademark Review 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals every year since 2018. Goss earned a BA from Tufts University, and a JD from Case Western Reserve University.

Goss traces her Irish heritage on her father’s side back to several of her second and third great grandparents who hailed from counties Down, Laois, and Limerick, through the most recent arrival of her great grandfather Michel Flinn in 1882.

Goss is a member of the Irish American Law Society of Cleveland. In line with her personal interest in cornea donation and research to find cures for blinding eye diseases, she has volunteered for the Cleveland Eye Bank and Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation since the early 1980s, and is a member of the foundation’s Board of Directors.

She has two adult sons, Geoff and Charlie, two lovable dogs name Murphy and Roy, and a reasonably good golf game.
