PATRICK KELLY

PATRICK Kelly is a mediator and arbitrator with ADR Services, Inc. in Los Angeles. After 40 years as the western region managing partner of Wilson Elser, he joined ADR Services in 2020.

Kelly was a litigator for his entire career and was elected to membership of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He also served as president of the State Bar of California, president of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and president of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.

His practice focuses on mediating and arbitrating high-stakes personal injury, premises liability, professional liability and commercial cases. It more broadly encompasses insurance bad faith, insurance coverage, product liability, premises liability, employment litigation, ski resort liability, railroad liability and the full spectrum of class action matters.

Kelly has delivered more than 125 lectures and authored 80 articles on these and related topics. He is also an original coauthor of the California Insurance Litigation Guide, the most-cited treatise on insurance coverage in California.

Before becoming a lawyer, Kelly was a professional musician. As a guitarist, he spent many years as a touring musician performing with such groups as The Beach Boys, The Surfaris, Jan & Dean and the California Surf City All Stars.

Kelly earned a BA from Pomona College, and a JD from Loyola Law School.

Married with two children, Kelly traces his Irish lineage back three generations to Co. Cork. He is a member of the Irish American Bar Association.
