ANNE-MARIE O’SULLIVAN

ANNE-MARIE O’Sullivan joined the Legal Division of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs as an assistant legal adviser in 2016. Working primarily on public international law issues, since 2019 she has been based in New York City as the legal adviser to the DFA Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations.

O’Sullivan has led the Irish mission’s work on legal matters concerning the UN Security Council, since Ireland’s election to that body for the term 2021-2022. She has also represented Ireland for five years at annual meetings of the UN’s legal committee (the Sixth Committee).

Prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs, O’Sullivan practiced as barrister at the Law Library in Dublin. She has also worked as a legal adviser with Amnesty International, Ireland, as in-house adviser at Ryanair and as a stagiaire at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.

While at the Irish Bar she undertook pro-bono work, assisting Irish and international NGOs on human rights-related issues as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the youth information website Spunout.

O’Sullivan is a native of Co. Cork, and an alumni of University College Cork and the Honorable Society of King’s Inns.
