KATHERINE J. BRENNAN

KATHERINE J. “Kate” Brennan serves as the senior vice president and general counsel of Marsh McLennan, a Fortune 200 professional services firm with 80,000 employees operating in 100 countries. In this role, Brennan leads the Legal, Compliance, Public Affairs and Risk Management departments. She is also a member of the Marsh McLennan Executive Committee.

Brennan most recently held the position of general counsel of Marsh after serving as deputy general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer. Since joining Marsh McLennan in 2008, she has served in a number of leadership positions at the company, including general counsel of Guy Carpenter.

Prior to re-joining Marsh McLennan in October 2017, Brennan served as the senior vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at S&P Global Inc. Earlier in her career she was with the law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf where she represented clients in connection with all aspects of the corporate and securities practice with a focus on insurance-linked securities, including catastrophe bond transactions.

Brennan graduated with a BA from Duke University and received a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. She currently sits on the board of the Red Cross of Greater New York.

On her father’s side, her great-grandfather (Brennan) was from Co. Kilkenny and her great-grandmother (Walsh) from Co. Meath. On her mother’s side, her great-grandfather (Murphy) was from Co. Sligo.
