RUTH CORCORAN

RUTH Corcoran is an attorney in the Westchester, New York office of Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP. Her practice focuses on the defense ofhospitals,physicians,nursesandotherhealthcare entities in medical malpractice litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Corcoran worked as a legal compliance specialist for a Manhattanbased ambulatory surgery center management firm where she gained exposure to issues pertaining to risk management, malpractice insurance and litigation, stark law, HIPAA, and other regulatory considerations for New York-based outpatient facilities.

Corcoran earned a bachelor of civil law, with honors, from University College Cork, and a master of laws from Brooklyn Law School. While at university she was an active committee member of the student Law Society, and a top ranked student in Moot Court. She spent a year abroad studying in Brooklyn Law School. In addition to serving as a teaching assistant in the school’s ESL course for foreign trained lawyers, she also participated in the Courtroom Advocates Project providing pro bono assistance to victims of domestic violence.

Corcoran is a native of Co. Cork. She is a member of the Irish American Bar Association.
