DANIEL M. CROWLEY

DANIEL M. CROWLEY is a judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018.

Crowley began his legal career as an associate for the law firm Booth, Mitchel and Strange LLP, and went on to become partner in 1992. He remained at the firm until his appointment to the Superior Court.

Crowley, an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, has presented cases before the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. His areas of expertise include personal injury, environmental, consumer rights, employment law, corporate law and criminal law.

Crowley has served as the trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s (LACBA) Litigation Section, as well as chair of the LACBA chapter of the American Inns of Court. Some of his memberships include the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s Central Civil Liaison Committee, the Bench Bar Relations Committee, and the American

Board of Trial Advocates.

Crowley earned a BA from Santa Clara University, and a JD from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Married with four children, Crowley’s paternal grandparents emigrated from Co. Cork. His mother was a Curran, also descended from Cork.

“My brother and one of my four sisters and I traveled to Ireland in 2019 to celebrate 30 years of the Los Angeles Irish American Bar Association hosting Irish interns in Los Angeles. I was president of the association at the time. While there, we were taken by the father of one of the interns, Tim Crowley, to visit our shared ancestral home, the Castle Crowley,” Crowley says.
