MICHAEL M. MADDIGAN

MICHAEL M. Maddigan is the Los Angeles office managing partner of Hogan Lovells. An experienced and accomplished litigator, he also heads the firm’s Litigation Practice Group in Los Angeles.

Maddigan has been at the forefront of significant commercial and class action litigation involving breach of contract, the False Claims Act, privacy and data breaches, insurance, and antitrust for established and emerging companies across the healthcare, insurance, and technology industries.

Maddigan is a thought leader in the healthcare and privacy areas. He is the co-author of Health Care Reform: Law and Practice ,a publication that provides guidance on the Affordable Care Act’s impact on health plans, employers, and individuals. He is also coauthor and editor of Medical Records Privacy Under HIPAA.

Maddigan speaks and writes regularly on professional issues including the FCA, emerging issues in privacy law, and new developments in insurance and antitrust law. Maddigan served as president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and a member of the Board of Governors of the Inner City Law Center.

Maddigan has been recognized by a variety of industry publications, including Chambers USA and The Legal 500 United States.

Maddigan earned a BSFS from Georgetown University, and a JD from the University of California at Berkeley where he was an editor of the California Law Review.

Married with six children, Maddigan’s maternal great great grandfather Patrick Scully was born in Queens (now Co. Laois). He immigrated to the U.S. and fought in the Mexican American War, and then settled in California. His paternal great great grandfather was from Co. Cork.

Maddigan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Irish American Bar Association.
