DONALD P. McFADDEN

DONALD P. McFadden undertakes contract work within the legal industry, after retiring his practice in 2017. He acts as a consultant and expert witness in real estate, title and insurance matters.

His firm, McFadden & Freeburg Co., L.P.A., started in April, 1981. The practice focus was in real estate law, small business, title insurance, bankruptcy, wills and trusts, probate law and civil litigation.

McFadden is active in the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Real Estate Section. He has published articles on professional ethics, real estate law, title insurance, title agent duties and escrow agent duties and liabilities.

McFadden is a founder of Ohio Real Title, which currently has nine offices in Ohio and one in Naples, Florida, with more than 140 employees.

In 2014, McFadden received the Ohio Land Title Association’s Meritorious Service Award for outstanding contribution to Ohio’s title industry. In 2017, he received the OSBA’s Robert L. Hausser Award for outstanding achievement, contribution and leadership in the practice of real property law.

McFadden earned a BA from Saint Louis University, and a JD from Case Western Reserve University.

Married with two daughters, McFadden traces his Irish roots back 500 years to what is now Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Ancestors are believed to be from Co. Donegal. One of them, John McFadden, was buried in Crawford County around 1700, according to Ancestry.com.

McFadden is a member of the Emerald Civic Society, the Irish American Law Society of Cleveland, and East Side Irish. Each year he marches in Cleveland’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. His daughters took Irish dance lessons at Murphy’s Irish Arts Center. The McFaddens have visited Ireland twice.
