KAREN H. MORIARTY

KAREN H. Moriarty is a partner in the Insurance and Reinsurance Services Group at Coughlin Midlige & Garland, LLP and is based in the firm’s Morristown, New Jersey office. Her practice concentrates in the areas of insurance and reinsurance coverage litigation on behalf of insurers and reinsurers in in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania state and federal courts, and jurisdictions across the nation.

Moriarty has significant experience representing insurers in both litigated and non-litigated matters involving a wide variety of claims concerning comprehensive general liability, sexual molestation, long tail claims including asbestos and pollution claims, professional liability, construction defect, and construction-related risk transfer issues.

Moriarty also counsels insurance company clients on varied insurance coverage topics, routinely presents in her practice areas, conducts in-house training/mentoring, and has advocated for women in insurance and in the practice of law through her positions with both professional organizations and Coughlin Midlige Initiatives.

For several years, Moriarty was associated with a national defense firm where she specialized in products liability, professional liability and medical malpractice litigation. She joined Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP (then Coughlin Duffy LLP) at its inception in March 2004. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Moriarty earned a BS from Seton Hall University, and a JD from Seton Hall Law School.

Married with three children, Moriarty traces her Irish roots back two generations to Co. Galway.
