FRANCIS C. MORRISSEY

FRANCIS C. Morrissey is a partner in the firm of Morrissey,Wilson,&Zafiropoulos,LLP inBraintree, Massachusetts. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvencyanddistressedacquisitionsanddivestitures. He is an experienced bankruptcy litigator and counselor who has practiced for more than 20 years in the field.

MorrisseyteachescommerciallawatNewEngland Law|Boston as well as Boston University School of Law. Boston University School of Law hasrecognizedhiscontributiontotheschoolwith the John S. Baerst Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Silver Shingle Award.

Long active in pro bono matters, Morrissey has served, by appointment of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, as the vice chair of the Clients’ Security Board. He has also represented parties on a pro bono basis before the BBO and the Board of Bar Examiners, as well as acted as a commissioner in bar discipline cases.

Morrissey led the Massachusetts Bar Association’s (MBA) successful efforts to lobby the General Court to update Massachusetts’ version of the Uniform Commercial Code, and he helped launch the MBA’s Student Loan Bankruptcy Assistance Project. Morrissey was recognized for these efforts with the MBA’s President’s Award.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts has honored Morrissey with its Pro Bono Publico Award, and in 2019 the editorial board of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly selected Morrissey as one of its Lawyers of the Year.

Morrissey received a JD, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 1994.

Married with one daughter, Morrissey’s maternal grandparents were from Co. Galway. His paternal grandparents were from Co. Cork. He is a member of the Clover Club of Boston. His brother and law partner is John J. Morrissey, also a member of the Irish Legal 100.
