BRIAN J. O’CONNOR

BRIAN J. O’Connor owns The O’Connor Law Firm, based in New York City. He is a trial lawyer handling personal injury litigation, including construction accidents, catastrophic injury cases, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and other serious injury cases.

He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocate Forum which has been recognized as one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the U.S. He is also a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association of Justice.

O’Connor began his legal career in 1997 as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York where he gained extensive trial experience taking verdicts in all types of personal injury matters. In 2001, he joined Cozen O’Connor where he represented some of the largest property owners, developers and general contractors in the construction industry in catastrophic injury cases.

In 2004, he left Cozen to join a plaintiff’s firm to focus on representing injured New Yorkers. He took many cases to trial and verdict, obtaining substantial awards for his clients.

In 2006, O’Connor founded his own firm after determining he could provide better personal service to his clients by limiting the number of cases he accepts.

O’Connor maintains an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized by New York Super Lawyers every year since 2017.

He is the author of The NYC Accident Book, educating injured New Yorkers about the legal process, how to avoid costly mistakes and how to choose the right lawyer for their case.

O’Connor earned a BA, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a JD, cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

O’Connor and his wife Jenny have three sons: Owen, Sean and Finn. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and later moved to Staten Island. “Having grown up in the middle of five brothers, I learned early on that strong advocacy and smart negotiation skills would be keys to success,” he says.

O’Connor’s paternal grandparents came from Co. Clare, and his maternal grandparents came from counties Tyrone and Donegal. He is a member of the Irish American Bar Association of New York.
