ROBERT E. RYAN

ROBERT Emmett Ryan is a partner and chair oftheProfessionalLiabilityPracticeandTrialPractice groups at Connell Foley. He is based in the firm’s Roseland, New Jersey office. Admitted in New York and New Jersey, he is a six-time certifiedciviltrialattorneyascertifiedbytheSupreme Court of New Jersey, and has dedicated his professional practice for over 35 years to the litigation and trial of substantial matters.

Ryan’spracticeplacesparticularemphasison therepresentationofarchitects,engineers,attorneys and physicians in major professional malpractice litigation. He has served as lead counsel in the representation of regional, national andinternationalprofessionalfirmsinsignificant litigation matters venued in both the state and federal courts. He has also represented parties in significant product liability and class action litigation, as well as in large-scale construction defect actions in all forums.

Ryan is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Trial AttorneysofNewJersey,theNewJerseyBarAssociationProfessionalMalpractice Committee, and the ABA and DRI Professional Liability sections. He is a frequent lecturer on topics of litigation and professional ethics/liability.

Ryan has regularly been recognized in New Jersey Super Lawyers, including as a Top 100 New Jersey Super Lawyer, and maintains an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Ryan earned a BA from Saint Peter’s College, and a JD, cum laude, from Seton Hall University.

Ryan and his wife, Eileen, have four children: Catherine, Carolyn, Robert Emmett and Hayley. His grandparents arrived in New York City in 1902 and 1904 from counties Waterford and Limerick.

Ryan is a member of the Irish American Bar Association of New Jersey and the Irish American Cultural Institute.
