ALLAN E. ANDERSON

ALLAN E. Anderson is a partner at ArentFox Schiff, andisbasedinthefirm’sLosAngelesoffice. He is a litigation and intellectual property partner and heads the firm’s Complex Litigation practice in California.

Anderson’s practice encompasses a wide variety of matters from trademark, trade dress and trade secrets to patent infringement, copyright and false advertising. He represents clients in the entertainment, manufacturing, real estate, employment,internetandtechnologyindustries.

Anderson routinely represents domestic and international clients in intellectual property litigationinnumerousjurisdictionsthroughoutthe country. In addition to being based in Los Angeles, he is also licensed to practice in all federal districts in New York and is the lead litigator for the firmwide IP Litigation team.

Anderson represented an American multinational retail corporation in a patent litigation against a technology company. After entering appearances in August 2020, Anderson scored an early victory for the client in November 2020 and a decisive win in early 2021.

Anderson also successfully moved to dismiss an international clothing and accessories company from a trade dress infringement lawsuit filed by an international wholesaler of clothing and footwear in the Northern District of California. Among other allegations, the plaintiff aggressively alleged that boots and shoes sold by Anderson’s client infringed the plaintiff’s trade dress rights in its boots, shoes, and sandals. The court ultimately dismissed the claims against Anderson’s client in their entirety, with prejudice, preempting the need for jurisdictional discovery. The client is now equipped with a published decision which could help future litigants think twice before bringing suit.

Anderson is AV Peer Review rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a recipient of the Marc L. Fleischaker Award which is awarded to partners and counsel at ArentFox Schiff who have done notable pro bono work in a given year.

Anderson earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Anderson traces his Irish roots to Co. Cavan, where his maternal grandmother was born in 1909. His other ancestry dates back to Cavan from the 1700s. In 2017, Anderson was granted Irish citizenship. His sister Carol Anderson is also a member of the Irish Legal 100.
