KEVIN R. BOYLE

KEVIN R. Boyle is a founding partner at Panish | Shea | Boyle | Ravipudi LLP in Los Angeles. He specializes in resolving large, high profile plaintiff cases by trial or settlement.

Boyle represents a number of clients in a wide range of matters, from wrongful death to catastrophic personal injuries to victims of serious fraud. The common thread in all of his cases is that he represents people who have been severely wronged by powerful entities, and he seeks to not only hold those entities financially responsible, but to force them to change their ways.

Boyle was a lead member of the 1 October Litigation Leadership Group that secured an $800 million settlement on behalf of the victims of the October 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas that resulted in the death of 60 people and injured hundreds of others. The settlement with MGM Resorts International was the first settlement in U.S. history for a mass shooting. In recognition of his work on these cases, Boyle was a recipient of the 2021 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year award and honored by the Consumer Attorneys of California as a 2021 Consumer Attorney of the Year finalist.

Boyle recently settled several high-profile cases, including a case on behalf of Jane Doe – the first known child sex abuse victim of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell – who alleges she was exploited and sexually abused as a minor by the defendants over the course of more than six years in Florida, New York and New Mexico. He also settled a case on behalf of the families of the victims who were killed in the January 2020 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna.

Boyle previously represented two U.S. soldiers who were severely injured in a helicopter crash in Iraq in a case against the helicopter manufacturer which asserted that it was immune from liability because it was a government contractor. He obtained the largest known settlement in a case of this kind.

Named among the 2022 Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Attorneys, Boyle has also been recognized as one of the 2021 West Trailblazers by The American Lawyer and among the 2021 Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. He is repeatedly recognized by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers, honored as the 2017 Lawyer of the Year for Plaintiff’s Product Liability by Best Lawyers, and profiled as one of the Best Lawyers in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Times.

In 2018, Boyle was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Amicus Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and serves on the board of the Law College Association of the University of Arizona.

Prior to co-founding Panish | Shea | Boyle | Ravipudi LLP, Boyle served as law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court and, before that, to Judge Melvin T. Brunetti of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He started practicing law on the defense side with Kirkland & Ellis before dedicating his career to helping plaintiffs.

Boyle earned a BA from Vanderbilt University, and a JD from the University of Arizona.

Married with two children, Boyle’s great, great grandfather left Ireland in 1821. He is a member of the Irish American Bar Association.
