SHAUN MICHAEL KELLY

SHAUN Michael Kelly is a partner in the Delaware Business, Commercial and Corporate litigation group at Connolly Gallagher, LLP, and is based in the firm’s Wilmington office. He represents both individual and corporate clients faced with business law and fiduciary issues.

Kelly has litigated a variety of disputes in Delaware’s Court of Chancery, including disputes related to books and records, business divorce, reformation, breach of fiduciary duty, corporate control and trust disputes. He has also litigated a number of disputes in the Delaware Superior Court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division, including complex contractual disputes.

Outside of litigation, Kelly advises companies and their principals in matters concerning Delaware corporate governance and other Delaware commercial law issues.

Drawing on his experience as the director of the Consumer Protection Unit (CPU) for the Delaware Department of Justice, Kelly also assists Connolly Gallagher’s Government Law group with a variety of matters. As the CPU director during the Covid-19 pandemic, he managed CPU’s response to pandemic-related consumer frauds.

Kelly has been named as a Rising Star by Delaware Super Lawyers for 2020 and 2021. He has also been recognized by Delaware Today magazine’s Top Lawyers list.

Kelly earned a BA from Swarthmore College, and a JD, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He is a member of the Richard S. Rodney American Inn of Court, and served as assistant secretary and secretary to the Board of Bar Examiners of the Supreme Court of Delaware from 2015 through 2021.

Kelly and his wife Hannah have three children. He is a fifth generation Irish American with roots in Co. Cork. He has traveled to Dublin and Galway, and is a member of the Notre Dame clubs of Wilmington and Philadelphia.
