TIM O’LEARY

TIM O’Leary is the vice president for commercial legal for NetApp, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in San Jose, California that provides data management products and services to enterprise customers.

O’Leary manages a worldwide team of attorneys and contract negotiators focusing on field sales, services support and financing activities related to commercial and public sector customers. He provides legal advice and associated transaction, dispute and project support.

O’Leary is a practical, results-oriented international business lawyer, with expertise in negotiating transactions and resolving disputes with third parties; in structuring and implementing complex, multinational projects; and in building relationships both inside and outside the organization.

His past experience includes being a director of global compliance and ethics program infrastructure, including board and C-level reporting responsibilities, internal investigation oversight and cross-functional partnering with key stakeholders.

Recent recognitions for O’Leary’s team at NetApp include Most Transformative In-House Legal Department of the Year, as named by Legal Business Awards on January 14, 2020, and Most Innovative Public Company Legal Department of the Year, as named by The Recorder on November 5, 2019.

O’Leary earned an AB in economics and history from Stanford University, and a JD from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

Married with children, O’Leary traces his Irish roots to counties Cork and Waterford.
