MARY ANNE SULLIVAN

MARY Anne Sullivan is senior counsel at Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C. Her practice spans the energy spectrum, with a particular focus on innovative and reduced carbon options. She previously served as general counsel of the U.S Department of Energy.

Sullivan uses her broad knowledge of the industry and the regulatory environment to assist her clients in finding and taking advantage of new opportunities in the market. Whether pursuing permitting of offshore wind or new transmission for renewable energy, developing infrastructure for electric vehicle deployment or manufacturing capabilities for advanced biofuels, seeking funding for new nuclear or renewable technologies, or applying energy efficiency standards to new product designs, clients seek Sullivan’s guidance and assistance to navigate the requirements and realize the benefits of today’s dynamic energy markets.

In 2014, Sullivan received an honorary doctorate from Fordham University where she previously received her BA, summa cum laude. She earned a JD from Yale Law School.

She is a member of Oak Ridge National Laboratory Technology Partnership Advisory Board, and she is an Ambassador for C3E, the Department of Energy’s initiative for advancing women in clean energy.

Sullivan traces her Irish roots to counties Cork and Antrim. She has visited Ireland many times, and she was a long-time host for Irish visitors through Project Children and the Washington Ireland Program.

Sullivan is married to Larry D. Petro.
